Carl Zeiss Low Vision Devices

Magnifiers, Monocular Telescopes, Teleloupes, Telemicroscopes and the unique Zeiss Magnifying Bifocals

Aplanatic-Achromatic Pocket Magnifiers

Aplanatic-achromatic pocket magnifiers from Carl Zeiss are indispensable aids for many tasks -- particularly in industry, research and the skilled trades -- where precise vision is of the essence.

Their small dimensions also make them useful for persons with several visual handicaps, e.g. for use when out and about.

The aplanatic-achromatic pocket magnifiers are labeled with their refracting power (D), which can be used to calculate the respective magnification on the basis on the conditions of use. These magnifiers provide a distortion-free image without chromatic aberration over the entire field of view. The product range includes the refracting powers 24 D and 40 D, and a double pocket magnifier 12 D + 24 D = 36 D. Also available with an AR coating.

Aspheric Hand Magnifiers

Hand magnifiers facilitate many of the tasks we perform at work and in our private lives that require detailed, precise vision. Carl Zeiss offers a range of five different hand magnifiers for this purpose.

The magnifiers are graded according to their dioptric power and display the largest possible diameter for their respective power. Their aspheric optical design is carefully matched to the conditions in which they are used. Image quality and distortion -- with utilization of the highest possible magnification -- have been optimized so that no aberrations of any consequence occur.

The hand magnifiers are labeled with their refracting power (D), which can be used to calculate the magnification on the basis of the conditions of use.

Also available with a hard protective coating, or with a hard protective coating and a multilayer AR coating.

Magnifying Bifocals S 25, R 22 and R 20

Magnifying spectacles are glasses with lenses that display a high positive refracting power. The higher the dioptric power, the smaller the working distance becomes. Magnifying bifocals from Carl Zeiss allow the wearer to perform work and read at close range by looking through the magnifying portion. The distance portion is used for orientation in the surrounding area. The correction of the wearer's ametropia is effective in both the base lens and the magnifying portion (except for Magnifying Bifocal R 20).

Magnifying Bifocal S 25: A glass bifocal consisting of a base lens featuring the distance correction, with a magnifying segment cemented onto its back surface. The correction of the wearer's ametropia is therefore also effective in the magnifying portion. The distance portion is used for orientation purposes, while the magnifying portion allows the recognition of detail in the near range and the reading of standard print sizes. Due to the short working distances, only monocular use is generally possible. The magnifying portion is centered under the major reference point for distance vision, but it can be nasally inset on request. The magnifying portion or the whole of the partner lens is occluded. The magnifications 1.5x and 2x can also be used binocularly. The magnifying portions are then produced with convergence-relieving prisms and are nasally inset relative to the optical center of the distance portion.

Magnifying Bifocal R 22 and R 22 Lenti: A plastic bifocal consisting of a base lens featuring the distance correction, with a molded, round magnifying portion on its front surface. The correction of the wearer's ametropia is therefore also effective in the magnifying portion. The distance portion is used for orientation to the surrounding field, while the magnifying portion allows the recognition of detail in the near range and the reading of standard print sizes. Due to the short working distances, only monocular use is generally possible. The magnifying portion is centered under the major reference point for distance vision, but it can be nasally inset on request. The magnifying portion or the whole of the partner lens is occluded. A lenticular version is available for high plus powers for reasons of thickness and weight.

Magnifying Bifocal R 20: A plastic bifocal consisting of a base lens featuring no corrective power, with  a molded, round magnifying portion on the center of its front surface. The magnifying portion is produced with a 5x or 6x magnification and is used for detail recognition in near vision and for reading standard print sizes. The distance portion can be used for orientation purposes. Due to the short working distances, only monocular use is generally possible. The magnifying portion or the whole of the partner lens is occluded.

Head-worn Loupe L

Head-worn loupe with binocular loupe component for stereoscopic near vision, also suitable for spectacle wearers. The Head-worn Loupe L is suitable for situations where low magnifications are sufficient. The user's hands remain free to perform whatever task is required. The vertically adjustable visor with lateral shielding prevents stray light from impairing the wearer's vision and can be easily swung out of the field of view if required.

To enhance wearing comfort, the headband is fitted with an exchangeable textile pad. A spare pad is included with the loupe on delivery. The elastic rear headband can be set to whatever length is needed.

The Head-worn Loupe L is available with the powers 4 D or 6 D. The binocular loupe components are easy to change and can also be used on the Head-worn Loupe LC.

Head-worn Loupe LC

Loupe clip with binocular loupe component for stereoscopic near vision, for attachment to maost prescription glasses. The Head-worn Loupe LC is suitable for situations requiring a low magnification. The user's hands remain free to perform whatever task is required.

Angled gripping surfaces make it easy for the user to attach the clip without having to remove his glasses. Non-slip caps on the peg prevent scratching of spectacle lenses. The height and tilt of the loupe components can be set as required.

The Head-worn Loupe LC is supplied in a plastic box and is available with the powers 4 D or 6 D. The binocular loupe components are easy to change and can also be used on the Head-worn Loupe L.
