Vision Advantage International Inc.
was formed to provide dignified lifestyle enhancement for partially sighted persons through delivery of quality products and services. The company was founded in 1994 when it purchased a significant portion of Coburn Optical Industries' Vision Assist Products business unit, which had provided assistive technology since the 1970s.

Vision Advantage International Inc. is headquartered in Lincoln, Nebraska. The company has operated profitably since its inception through a variety of product offerings that combine value and quality.  We represent a number of excellent manufacturers, including CTP COIL, Beecher Research, Enhanced Vision, Walters Low Vision Optics, Magnabrite, Daylight Company, CPF (Corning), Jonathan Paul Fitovers, Vision Technology, as well as many other fine products.  In 1998, Vision Advantage became the exclusive Carl Zeiss distributor of low vision aids for the United States and Canada.

The company is also engaged in new initiatives in the delivery of low vision rehabilitation services.  In 1999, Vision Advantage introduced 'Partnership in Low Vision', a program designed to help eye care professionals who want to add low vision rehabilitation services to their practice.  Since its inception, scores of ECP's have successfully participated in the program.  In 2005, Vision Advantage became the prime vendor to Oculi Vision Rehabilitation, Inc., a company that provides comprehensive, turn key products and services to ECP's wanting to add vision rehabilitation to their existing practices. (www.oculivisionrehabilitation.com)  Recently, Vision Advantage purchased the web site www.myoptica.com which is engaged in providing personal optics solutions to collectors, hobbyists, and industry.  Vision Advantage also developed and marketed a limited range of proprietary products including Renaissance Low Vision Spectacles, Ultimate Readers, and Lifestyle Low Vision Spectacles.  

Ronald W. De Long has been President & CEO since 1998 and has directed the expansion of sales and marketing efforts.  Mr. De Long was President of Low Vision Council, an industry association which recently merged with Vision Council of America.  He served as the Chairman of VCA's low vision division through 2005.  De Long is still a member of their executive board helping increase awareness of vision rehabilitation services among consumers and providing educational programs to ECP's.  In this role, he is a frequent contributor to industry forums.

Vision Advantage also developed and owns Magnifier Shop (tm) in-office device module.  Designed to be used within an existing optical dispensary, the first Magnifier Shop was operated in Palm Desert, California from 2000-2005.  The showroom is located in Lincoln, NE.
